Movie Synopsis:
The future of civilization rests in the fate of the One Ring, which has been lost for centuries. Powerful forces are unrelenting in their search for it. But fate has placed it in the hands of a young Hobbit named Frodo Baggins, who inherits the Ring and steps into legend.
A daunting task lies ahead for Frodo when he becomes the Ringbearer - to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom where it was forged. But he can't do it alone. A Fellowship bands together to lend Frodo the wisdom of Gandalf; the loyalty of his friends Sam, Merry and Pippin; the courage of Aragorn and Boromir; the skill of Legolas; and the strength of Gimli. They are aided in their quest by Arwen, Galadriel and Elrond, whose knowledge of the One Ring brings to light the true danger and importance of their journey.

Locations of Middle-Earth:
The Shire: The Shire is the home of Frodo, Merry, Pippin, Sam and Bilbo. It had been sheilded from the outside world, until the time of the War of the Ring, where the Shire becomes known all over Middle-Earth.
Bree: Bree is a village just outside of the Shire. Bree and the Shire have trade links, however while Frodo, Merry, Pippin and Sam are staying there, Bree is attacked by the Nazgúl.
Rivendell: Rivendell is the place where elves such as Elrond, Glorfindell and Arwen Evenstar live. It is otherwise known as Imladris, the House of Elrond and the Last Homely House. The Council of Elrond takes place here in the Fellowship of the Ring.
Moria (Khazad-dúm): Moria is the ancient city of the Dwarves under the Misty Mountains. Taken by the orcs century's ago, re-taken by Balin & company and then taken again by orcs, the fellowship pass through here at the loss of Gandalf.
Lothlorien: Lothlorien is the realm of Celeborn and Galadriel, the fellowship seeks protection here after fleeing Moria.
Amon-hen: The fellowship is broken here. Frodo and Sam leave the fellowship, and travel to Mordor by themselves, Boromir is slain trying to protect Merry and Pippin who are taken captive by a band of Uruks.
Isengard: The stronghold of Saruman. Gandalf is held captive here until rescued by Gwahir.
